Without further ado, here are my top 10 men's winter colognes. And remember – you can get all these perfumes online!
Winter Fragrance 1 – Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
At the top of our list is this amazing and very Christmassy men's winter fragrance by Tom Ford.
Even though the name is Tobacco Vanille, take note that the smells of cinnamon and honey are far stronger and more prevalent.
What ingredients make up this top men's cologne?
Top notes include tobacco leaf and spicy notes. Middle notes are a blend of tonka bean, tobacco blossom, vanilla, and cacao. The base consists of dried fruits and woody notes.
This Eau de Parfum (which means it's lighter than perfume with an 8-15% concentration) is ideal for autumn and winter nights. Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille is a versatile choice that works for both formal and casual wear.
And it's got a beast performance – it can last on you for over 20 hours.
Winter Fragrance 2 – Dolce & Gabbana The One for Men EDT
I love this men's fragrance. When it comes to safe-bet colognes for the holidays, this pick definitely stands out.
Dolce & Gabbana The One for Men EDT is noticeably warm and sweet, but also classy and masculine at the same time.
It's probably due to the scents of cinnamon and vanilla that almost every woman loves it. Then again, almost every woman has smelled it before.
Top notes are namely coriander, basil, and grapefruit. Middle notes meanwhile contain ginger, orange blossom, and cardamom.
You'll enjoy tobacco, amber, and cedar notes for the base. Performance-wise, you can expect this men's cologne to last the whole event. And the real beauty of this fragrance is it's ideal for all seasons except summer.
Winter Fragrance 3 – Vince Camuto Virtu EDT
Variety is the trademark of the Vince Camuto Virtu. Think of it as a bold fragrance that mixes heat and coolness pretty well into one polished, sophisticated scent. You can wear it to the office or for a dinner date.
This man's fragrance fits for most occasions during this time of the year.
What makes Vince Camuto Virtu EDT so special?
It's got aromatic top notes such as Turkish cardamom, crushed peppercorn, and fresh papyrus.
There are the middle notes of Haitian vetiver, white birch, and fresh tree moss. Base notes include Indian sandalwood, Tuscan leather, silky musk, and warm cedar.
This top men's fragrance can be worn in the winter or early springtime. It'll work great for your day in the office or your night out in the city. But bear in mind that since it's an EDT, it's not going to last all day long (you wouldn't describe this as a long lasting scent).
Expect a length of only 4-6 hours, so you'll want to re-apply this perfume in the afternoon if you've used it in the morning.
Winter Fragrance 4 – Eight & Bob Nuit de Megève EDP
Eight & Bob only launched Nuit de Megève EDP in 2017. There's something in the Nuit de Megève's smoky aroma that screams seductiveness. I often refer to this scent when I'm asked what the best men's cologne is.
What's the secret?
The scent is based on a rare aromatic plant that's native in Chile.
Top notes include grapefruit, petitgrain, and cloves.
The middle has notes of coffee, orris, and tonka bean. Base notes are vetiver, tobacco, and musk.
It's a product that's probably too sultry for the office so wear it instead for intimate or more formal situations, or while going out with a special someone.
And note that it's got a killer performance of 16+ hours on your skin!
Winter Fragrance 5 – Thierry Mugler A*Men
Thierry Mugler A*Men is a classic men's fragrance that has spawned quite a lot of flankers.
A great compliment generator. You wear and experience the magic made by a combination of tar and coffee.
It starts off with a harsh tar note but dries down into a coffee note that's sweet and chocolatey.
Lavender, peppermint, helional and bergamot comprise the top notes. You also get treated with the middle notes of coffee bean, tar, and patchouli.
The base notes though are pretty broad collection: tonka bean, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and musk.
Don't be fooled by the ingredients – this fragrance is far more masculine than it sounds!
Wear A*Men on your nights out with friends or colleagues during the fall or winter. While it's long lasting scent, be careful not overspray since it's pretty strong.
Winter Fragrance 6 – Dior Homme Intense
It's gotten a lot of hype, but the Dior Homme Intense is just literally a more intense version of the Dior Homme. Therefore, it's better for winter.
I do think the original is slightly better though there are also pluses to this one. Especially if you want something sexier and more seductive.
Lavender makes up the top note of this product. Middles notes are namely iris, ambrette (Musk Mallow) as well as pear.
The base meanwhile contains notes of Virginia cedar and vetiver. All in all, it's a fantastic fragrance for clubs, bars or other evening settings during autumn and winter. And the part? It can last over 12 hours.
Winter Fragrance 7 – Armaf Club de Nuit Intense for Men
I've heard Armaf Club de Nuit Intense for Men referred to as “the best men's fragrance of all time”.
Many say this one smells a lot like Creed Aventus. That's actually true except that the Armaf Club de Nuit Intense comes at a much lower price.
The key difference mainly is its top notes are slightly harsher and more acidic. But rest assured if you avoid applying too much of it, it'll get you the same kind of compliments.
The top notes for this fragrance are lemon, black currant, bergamot, apple, and pineapple. Middle notes consist of rose, jasmine, and birch.
And then the base contains notes of vanilla, ambergris, musk, and patchouli. The product suits all seasons and occasions (just like the Creed Aventus) and lasts on your skin for as long as 12 hours.
Winter Fragrance 8 – Carolina Herrera CH Men Prive
Have you got a leather jacket to wear during winter? Then you'll want to complement that with a dark, warm, sexy, and leathery evening scent.
Cue in the Carolina Herrera CH Men Prive. This fragrance helps you relax and enjoy the occasion more, whether you're on a romantic date or having drinks with buddies after work.
The top notes here are grapefruit, pomelo, and whiskey. Middle notes are a blend of lavender, sage, red thyme and cardamom.
The base offers notes of tonka bean, benzoin, and of course leather. This an ideal fragrance for casual evenings in the fall and winter.
And it's fairly long lasting scent as well (expect it to last for 8+ hours).
Winter Fragrance 9 – Imaginary Authors Cape Heartache
This top men's cologne is a niche type of fragrance. It comprises several fir tree notes while also having a hint of fruity sweetness. That's actually what makes it great to wear on Christmas day! Scents in this range are based on imaginary stories by Imaginary Authors.
The Cape Heartache specifically pays homage to the 19th-century story of adventure and romance in the Pacific Northwest.
Unlike the others on this list, this fragrance doesn't really have top, middle, and base notes. The idea is all the notes come together without overpowering one another.
You'll find fir, pine tree, hemlock, vanilla, big strawberry and woody notes.
You can wear Cape Heartache to casual events during daytime or later in the evening. It works fine for the seasons of autumn, winter, and spring. The good news is it also lasts on your skin for over 10 hours.
Winter Fragrance 10 – Kenneth Cole Black EDT
Think fresh, woody, and metropolitan. That's what the final men's fragrance on my list is all about.
A versatile product that's as easy to wear as the color black. It works wonders for anybody as long as you don't overspray.
You get distinct top notes of ginger, mandarin orange, basil, and water mint. Middle notes are nutmeg, incense, cedar, lotus, and exotic woods. The base offers you notes of amber, musk, violet leaf and suede. This fragrance can be practically worn anywhere during fall or winter.
It's a little bit too woodsy to use between April and September. But in the colder months, it's surprisingly strong for an EDT. Expect it to last 8 hours or more on your skin.
There you have it, gentlemen. These fragrances will work wonders in a season when everybody's covered up and breathing more deeply.
Want to smell good in the winter? Of course you do!
But don't just settle for that. Let your goal be to smell fantastic. It will make you more respected at work, more attractive to your partner, and definitely more confident overall.
